Welcome to Victoria's Girly Girl Corner!

Well, first, let me explain. I know I have said this  time and time again. That I am starting over on this blog. But this time I mean it!! I am starting to change my looks a little bit, be more feminine and cute and modest.. So yeah, back to where I was. Hello!!

Modesty? What kind of word is that?

It means just what it says. Modesty. Modesty. Oftentimes once a Christian girl has her convictions on modesty, she falls into a rut about what to wear, or not to wear. Eventually we become frumpy, homeschooler-y, or even legalistic. Let's dash the streotype that pop's into one's mind when the words "modesty" or "homeschooler" are mentioned. The definition of modesty is not defined by the culture around us, but rather by the Word that He has given us for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2nd Timothy 3:16) so that we may live a life glorifying to Him and as an example of His awesome redeeming power to the unbeleiving.

Practical particulars: With God's grace, I will be posting ideas to help you not fall into a rut when dressing. I have personally learned that it is very encouraging to even just see a few pictures of other girl's modest outfits for the ideas and was to put things together. Let's be cute, but covered! Stylish, but sensible! Contemporary, but classic! Feminine, but fresh!

In a phrase, this blog is to encourage other young ladies who have given there lifes to Christ to dress outside your box, but inside His Book!

To God be the Glory,
Victoria

"Make sure when you get dressed in the morning that you look cute as a button and that Jesus would be proud of you."           ~Unknown

Sunshine and "Hello"s :D

Alright, Summer will be here very soon...it already feels like summer, so therefore I will call it summer! The trees outside my window are bathed in golden sunlight; The birds are out singing their melodies, fitting from tree to tree; The air is HOT, forcing thoughts of swimming pools and orange popsicles to enter my mind (that's right, orange. It's the best!). A friend of mine once said "Sunny days are like a big warm hug from God". How awesome is that?? Well, anyways. Here in lovely GA, nature is living up to it's own little day...and it's living up to it beautifully.

So, I suppose I should give you a little update about me (since I haven't been on here in a while) eh? Simple enough.

Hello there! My name is Victoria. I'm 14 years old, but I'm not your typical American teenager...in fact, I'm pretty sure I was born in the wrong generation. I'm a poet, a singer, a dreamer, a wisher, a thinker... I have so much hope and faith that it freaks people out sometimes. Music is therapy to me...But above all else, I am truly falling in love with my Jesus more and more everyday. I go against the grain of this world...and live for the day when I'll finally get to meet Him face to face. :)

I'm doing this because I'm kinda starting over on this blog, I will still have all my old posts on here. But, I just need a fresh start to do better on this blog. It will be more me, my personality written for the world to see. :) I hope y'all will still like my blog. I love all of my followers. I'm starting over on this blog simply because I love to write! I'm not a brilliant writer, not even close. But I don't love it any less. SO in this blog, you'll basically be getting a preview of my thoughts, along with some creative writing here and there. But overall, I can hopefully some of the passion I have for my one true love, Jesus Christ. In these past few months, he has become incredibly important to me...He has, and still is, changing me from the inside out. I have thought of a new blog maybe. If I do, it will be in the future. I would title it: Everything Is Different. Because everything truly is different, now that I've really found my Jesus. So along with my random thoughts and ramblings, maybe I can help you to see Jesus as I see him. :D

Friday, May 4, 2012

Hi, everyone, I meant to say in my last post that I got that post from A voice of Praise...I was busy and I forgot to add that at the bottom. So I do apoligize. :) Thanks

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

you're beautiful, *every* little piece, love.

I often times have days in which I look in the mirror, and all I see are flaws. When I find my self listing all the things, I'd like to fix...

"I wish my face was thinner."
"Why can't my hair just be one distinct color?"
"My hips are so wide."
"How'd I get stuck with the hourglass figure??"
"Maybe I should dye my hair."
"I need to lose weight."
"Why do I have to be so curvy?"
"Why can't I look more like her?"
"How can I make myself look prettier?"

I get myself to the point where I can hardly look in the mirror, where I so desperately
want to fit that image of the picture perfect girl who struts around in a bikini,
her perfect hair, looking, well, perfect, and her flawless face glowing in perfection...
(redundant, I know. And yes, I know bikinis aren't the most modest option; I'm making a point
though!)

But today, when I was having a brief moment of one on one mirror,
I was reminded of this quote I'd heard recently:

"I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most glorious creature
that I could think of; for to have been thought about, born in God's thought,
and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest, and most precious thing in all thinking."
 ~George MacDonald~

When I'd first heard that, I was thinking in terms of who I am and will be as a person,
in the direction my life is headed...but today was the first time it struck me in a physical sense...
I actually had a moment when I thought to myself, "How dare I call myself anything other than
beautiful?" That's like insulting one of God's greatest masterpieces: us. You. Me.
We are his greatest work. We are each of us different in so many ways, yet the same in this:
we have a Creator who knit us together, who blended all of the details of our very selves
together to create something He sees as beautiful. Something he thought over, planned out,
put His time and effort into.
Can you imagine?
The God of the universe taking time to create you? Me? I cannot fathom it.

But I do know that this realization that He is the one who made me who I am,
who carefully thought out each detail of me, who always had my imagine in His mind, has me
seeing myself in a different light. Instead of seeing the worldly perfection I lack, I see other things:
I see my deep blue eyes that have little specks of sea foam green thrown in.
I see hair that's a toss up between brown and blonde, that shines like gold in the sunlight.
I see my somewhat lopsided smile, and curves that say "Hey! I'm a woman now!"
And I've got life, magnificent life, flowing through my veins...air that He breathed into my lungs...
and that is the most beautiful attribute I have. That I was crafted carefully, delicately,
beautifully by Him, for Him.

What a marvelous thought.

getting back to the roots of " Victoria's Girly Girl Corner" ;)

~Last night, I got to listen on the radio to Casting Crowns with Matthew West, and it was
incredible! This was my third time listening to Casting Crowns, and they just get
better and better every time. My absolute favorite thing about Christian concerts
though, especially ones where you know the words to every single song ;) , is
really it's more of a worship experience than a concert... The band up front?
They're really nothing special. They're just our brothers and sisters in Christ
leading us in worship. Even if your in an arena with 14,000 other people, it so
easily feels like it's just you, the band, and God. Everyone else just kind of fades
out.
After doing all Christian concerts for a few years now, I don't think I'll ever be able
to go back! There's nothing like it!
Okay, now that I've shared that, do ya'll remember when once upon a time, I'd
have such happy posts bursting at the seams with pictures that were just cute,
silly, pretty, sweet, happy?
I mean, hey, the whole blog title says it all: this is supposed to be the little " girly
girl corner" of the snazzier things in life ;) I do pretty good with that, considering
that the whole "Let me sit down and write an entirely comprehensive post about
my life and thoughts!" just doesn't work for me. I know it's been said that
bloggers should avoid being "random" but seriously? Honestly, truly, my mind
is a crazy place to be sometimes. I'm moody. I'm happy. Im sad. I'm silly. I'm
funny. I'm irritable. I'm a myriad of things, and go through a myriad of emotions
each day. Believe me, you don't want me to be that super detailed kind of
blogger...you get enough of my moods as it is ;)
Anyways, my whole point? I'm gonna start doing silly picture posts again.
Because they're fun. They make me smile. And I love when other bloggers do it.
They're my favorite kinds of posts ;)
And on that note, so it begins!
And keep in mind: these are basically "these make me smile" posts. So
hopefully, they make you smile too!
Lorelai Gilmore, sometimes I feel as if were the same person!
This picture makes me catch my breath, makes my heart sing, and stops me in my steps. Fabulous.
(my) Precious!!!!
"Giselle!!!!"
Narnia???? *sigh*
What?? Are you sure??
Well, that's just one more way me and Cinderella aren't alike.
*giggles*
Though I don't know if "stalk" is the right word...
Hahahaaha. Sorry, male viewers. But girls who remembers this? Go ahead, and
laugh with me. :D
Ah, but what if it does?
"Dear John..."
Ah, Peter! But really....this picture is kinda creepy. Which makes Peter Pan just
a bit creepy.
*nods head franctically*
No words for this awesomeness.
This movie never fails to tug at my heartstrings.

Had to do it ;)
Adios, my friends. I bid thee a wonderful evening, and wish you well always.
Until our next meeting...

not have gotten that off of his Facebook page *cough* stalker. *cough*. I'm not,
I'm not!!)

We went and bought Alice in Wonderland last week, and I didn't think I would enjoy it very much, but I loved it! The costumes were lovely...

Cuan grande es mi Dios? (How Great is Our God?)

This song gives me chills each and every time I hear it.

Life gets so loud here in America; but this song takes me back to a quiet (in

some sense of the word) Dominican church out in a beautiful jungle of an area

where the heat is so intense you can taste it as you breath in. Where the people

have next to nothing, but they have the LORD...and their joy is complete.

There is something so incredibly beautiful about hearing worship in a different

language. I remember me closing my eyes, listening to the strength of the voices

around me, the joy as these people poured there hearts out to the Lord...and

thinking "this is a glimpse of Heaven".

I cannot wait until that day when there will be no language barriers, no vast

oceans, no cultural differences, nothing holding the family of Christ apart.

And in that day, we shall find ourselves singing so many praises...among

them, "How great is our God?"

Beauty Tips of Audrey Hepburn

For attractive lips,
speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes,
seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure,

share your food with the hungrey.

For beautiful hair,

let a child run his or her fingers

through it once a day.

For poise,

walk with knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be

restored,

renewed,

revived,

reclaimed,

and redeemed;

never throw out anyone.

Swiss Watch

I don't like very many watches, and I don't have one. But I would love to have a gorgeous red one like this. However, it is Swiss, and is very expensive.

Vintage

Ilove vintage clothing, especially from the 40's and 50's. The feminine silhouettes that were in fashion then are just lovely. I really don't care for the majority of the earlier 1990's,or the last half. But the 50's were just awesome. :)

I think I like the fitted waist and full skirt look best when a belt is added. Especially for gals nowadays, who don't have two-inch rib cages, and such perfect waist definition. :)

I love this dress! The sleeves are rather unusual, but quite pretty, and I just love the ribbon at the waist, the neckline, and the skirt.

Romance (or lack thereof) and shady waiters

So last night, I'm talking to this guy friend of mine, a guy friend that I sort of like, and

who's been acting like he sort of likes me back. I say "sort of" because I don't

know him well enough to really like him. And you know what he does? He

starts asking me for dating advice. Advice on how to talk to this girl he goes to school with, and how to ask her out!

At first I was like...

(minus the cigarette, of course.)

But then, I was like... ok
So I helped him along his way, gave him the things he needed to know, and all ended well and happy :D

And then I did my usual pre-bedtime Facebook run-through, and there's my friend and her husband gushing over the fact that it's their 6 month anniversary. That other girl saying how much she loves her boyfriend, how wonderful he is. That other girl having a baby!

And then, the wave of depression hit.

You know, that whole "everyone around me has someone!!!" kind of depression. I mean, I don't even have any male interests right now. Because no, as much as I wish he did, Tim Tebow does not count as a legitimate male interest.

just because he's beautiful.

And then depression turned to irritation when I realized that I am so not supposed to feel like this for another good three weeks!! It ain't Valentine's Day yet!!
And then the irritation somehow floated into hysterical laughter as I was lying in bed in the dark. Then I got the chills. Then the laughter came back.
So I decided to blog about it.

think that waiter at the restaurant we ate at the other tonight put something in my drink. I knew he was shady.

Gosh it's hot in here.

heh heh.

Branching Out

Such great hopes for the new year. twenty-twelve!! here's to it being absolutely glorious- after all, we may all be turned into tiny dust particles come the end of the year. scary? i just hope if that's the case, my dust particle's gleam. i plan to live every waking moment of this year so fully. lots of laughter, smiles, painting, blogging, & bicycle riding. I've never been the one to plan but perhaps and impending death of society will get me moving?? Maybe it's just what the world needs--a good conspiracy theory to kick everyone in their butt & make them motivated, or at least very appreciative of what they already have. Anew decade-- how exciting!! I must keep reminding myself of the endless possibilities!
