Most of you have probably seen the movie"The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", based on the book by CS Lewis. "It was written to help us understand what Jesus did for us". So, all these years, I've known that's what CS Lewis is trying to show us.
In the particular part of the movie I'm talking about, the four children (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) are at the camp grounds with Aslan and all the other creatures on the "Good" side.
Then the Witch comes, declaring that, because he was a "traitor", Edmund now belonged to her. Aslan went into the tent with the Witch, and they talked. A while later, they both come out. Aslan tells Edmund that he did no longer belong to the Witch, and everyone cheers. But, Lucy sees the longing in Aslans eyes.
That night, Aslan gets up and leaves camp. Susan and Lucy, who can't sleep, follow him. They walk beside him, until Aslan tells them he must continue alone. They watch, in horror, as the Witch and her wicked creature's kill Alsan on the Stone Table, mocking him, cutting off his fur.
Can you see how much that resembles when Jesus died for us? He died, on the cross, just so that we, sinners, could live. Just like Aslan gave up his life for Edmund, so that he wouldn't end up with the Witch.
Wow, there is so much to focus on.
